D8 Digital Nomad Visa
Dreaming of a new life in the sun as a freelancer, the D8 Digital Nomad Visa could be for you!
Portugal has created a special new visa which is specifically designed for digital nomads, freelancers, and remote workers.
In summary it allows non-EU/EEA citizens with remote jobs to live and work in Portugal for up to one year, with the possibility of renewal and even permanent residency after five years.
Eligibility:-
There are two types of Digital Nomad Visa:
1 Year - Temporary Stay Digital Nomad Visa (renewal of additional 6 month possible)
Perfect if you aren’t ready to commit long term to living in Portugal long term. This will allow you to live and work legally in Portugal as a freelancer or self-employed business owner for up to 1 year. Avoids the typical 90 day tourist limit and will not affect your current tax residency status
2. Long-Term Residency Visa
Initial 4 months stay but requires converting it into a two-year renewable residence permit upon arrival. Ideal for those aiming for Portuguese citizenship eventually.
The residency permit is renewable for another three years getting you to the 5 year mark for potential citizenship and permanent residency
This visa permits family reunification.
