D7 Visa

This visa was established in 2007 and commonly know as the Portugal Retirement Visa or Passive Income Visa.

Eligibilty

• Must be a non-EU national,
• Have the funds to support yourself during your stay in Portugal. This income can be from pensions, transferable equity, real estate, intellectual property, or financial investment.  You will need €820 monthly passive income at least. It becomes €9,840 when calculated per year. If you plan to include family, there will be an additional 50% for your spouse and 30% for each dependant child.
• Have a clean criminal record,
• Have a residence address in Portugal,
• Are able to spend at least 16 months in Portugal during the first 2-year period.

Successful applicants are issued with a Portuguese residency card that is valid for two years. In order to maintain residency, the card must be renewed at the end of the second year, at which time a three-year residency card will be issued.

Benefits:-

The D7 visa allows you and your family legal residence in Portugal and has the option to take employment or establish a business in Portugal.  You will also qualify for permanent residency or citizenship in Portugal after five years.
